TRAVEL Tips
Please note the following travel tips when attending our classes:
- Classes start at 9am sharp and usually continue through 4pm to 5pm each day. This includes the final day of class. If you plan to leave class prior to 4pm or 5pm on the last day, you will be missing important material.
- Las Vegas' McCarran International Airport is one of the busiest destination airports in the United States, serving more than 56 million passengers yearly - in a facility originally designed for a bit less traffic! As a result, security lines can often be long: Plan to arrive at the airport at least two hours prior to your flight home.
- If you plan to fly out on the last day of class, we recommend that you book a flight leaving no earlier than 7pm. This will allow you time to get a taxi to the airport, check our luggage, and make it through security.
- Our Classroom Concierge will be happy to recommend restaurants based on your preferences, recommend shows, and help you obtain show tickets or restaurant reservations. We can also provide information on ground transportation, and even help you make a room reservation at our host hotel (receiving our discounted class rate). We pride ourselves on superior hospitality - please don't hesitate to ask for help!
- Airlines utilizing McCarran's "A" and "B" terminals are oftern preferable, as those two terminals often have much shorter waits through security. Our Classroom Concierge can advise on which airlines use these terminals if you're interested. Major airlines including Delta, Continental, American, and Southwest all use the more-crowded "C" and "D" terminals, which during busy times can have security waits of up to an hour. Ask our Classroom Concierge for advice on less-busy departure times to help minimize your wait.
- If you plan to arrive a few days early or depart a few days after class, our Classroom Concierge can help you obtain more favorable room rates at our host hotel. Don't hesitate to ask. Also note that few Las Vegas hotels permit early check-in or late check-out times except as guaranteed to their "elite" frequent-stay guests; plan accordingly.
- Bring taxi money. While the Las Vegas monorail is great for getting up and down the Strip, walks to and from the actual stations can be pretty lengthy sometimes. Taxis, however, are inexpensive and usually readily available. It is usually a waste of money to rent a car - concession recovery fees and other taxes can add more than a third to the base rate of the car. If you do choose to do so, most hotels do offer free parking. Many hotels do offer on-site car rental if you'd just like a car for a few days before or after class to enjoy yourself. Taxi fares within the Strip generally average under $10 per trip; from the airport to mid-Strip is generally about $20 or so.
- Please plan to stay at our host hotel. Your mornings will be much easier as you'll be able to walk to class rather than having to "commute;" traffic down the Strip can be incredibly congested in the mornings and afternoons. You'll also be able to more easily access our special events, including our evening reception, gourmet dinner evening, and other surprises.
- If you plan to see a show, purchase your tickets well in advance - most popular shows sell out a week or so in advance, if not more; unless you're really, really "into it," avoid the online ticket agencies who sell front-row seats at a hefty premium (often 2x-3x the base cost of the actual ticket). Our Classroom Concierge can help you with show tickets and provide you with standard-priced box office and ticket broker information.
